Arizona C-11 Electrical Contractor PSI Exam Guide

Start with the correct Arizona credential

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) uses a contractor-licensure process. Its current PSI candidate bulletin directs applicants to the ROC's License Classification Requirements form to identify the examinations required for a particular classification.

For C-11/CR-11, the bulletin says an applicant can elect either the NASCLA Accredited Trade Examination for Electrical Contractors or the AZ ROC Electrical (Commercial) examination. This guide covers the AZ ROC Electrical (Commercial) PSI option. The published format, topic outline, references, calculator policy, fee, and retake information below do not describe the NASCLA option.

The AZ ROC Electrical (Commercial) content outline lists 110 questions, a 70% minimum passing score, and 240 minutes allowed. The outline itself is marked “Last Revised: 6/8/23”; the PSI candidate bulletin dated February 18, 2026 links candidates to the trade-specific outlines.

The published AZ ROC Electrical (Commercial) blueprint allocates its 110 items across these subject areas:

References and calculator policy for this PSI option

For the AZ ROC Electrical (Commercial) PSI option, PSI lists 29 CFR Part 1926 (OSHA), NFPA 70: National Electrical Code, 2017, and NFPA 72: National Fire Alarm Code, 2016 as reference material allowed in the examination center. The same outline permits a silent, nonprinting, non-programmable calculator in the examination center. It also says candidates are responsible for bringing their own references and describes its rules for annotations and permanent tabs.

PSI scheduling, fees, and a failed attempt

The PSI bulletin states that ROC has contracted with PSI to conduct the trade-examination program. For the AZ ROC Electrical (Commercial) PSI option, its fee table lists $66 for one examination; the same table says the fee applies whether a candidate is taking the examination for the first time or repeating it. The bulletin states candidates must wait 30 days before retaking an examination they did not pass, permits three attempts for each examination, and then requires a 90-day waiting period between schedules after the third failed attempt.
